Grand Open Day

Just some of the attendee's.

On Friday 27th April 2012, we held an event to mark the official opening of our new Data Centre.

The event was well attended by over 30 guests who consisted of clients, potential clients and local Member of Parliament Mr George Mudie.

Attendees were treated to a guided tour of the Centre’s facilities and refreshments were on hand throughout.

Nick demonstrates a power cut.
Nick Ryder, Technical Manager at CCS (Leeds) Ltd gave a short but entertaining speech, during which he demonstrated, with the help of colleague and MD Peter Knapp, what would happen if the power supply to the Data Centre was disconnected. There was a nervous hush as Peter turned off the main power supply, and then relief as the graphs showed that the generator had sprung into life, thus maintaining continuous power to the Data Centre.

What made this little demonstration more poignant was that there were a number of CCS’s co-location clients at the actual event, and to say that they appeared slightly apprehensive would be an understatement.

All in all it was a great afternoon and we would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to all of those who attended.

XBOX LIVE Updates announced

The popular gaming console, the XBOX 360 is getting whole new series of updates due for the XBOX Live service it has been announced recently.

All of these new updates are video streaming services which use the internet to display video content on your television set.

Of the new internet channels, there are popular UK catch up services such as the BBC iPlayer, 4oD, and Demand 5. Additionally YouTube, msn video, Dailymotion and Crackle provide additional video content whilst Muzu.TV and Vevo offer music related video performances.

Finally and perhaps more exciting news is that Netflix and LoveFilm are also available as part of the new service. You can read our review of Netflix here.

Netflix Online Film Rentals

The popular US based on-demand media streaming service Netflix is now being made available in the UK. Subscribers can pay only £5.99 per month for unlimited access to the entire Netflix catalogue which includes a variety of popular film and TV content, all streamed via the internet to a number of different devices.

Netflix are offering a one month free trial if customers link the service to their Facebook profile and the content is delivered in either standard or high definition. The HD films need a connection speed of at least 5Mbp/s so as to avoid buffering whilst the standard definition content requires only 2Mbp/s. A 90 minute film in HD uses approximately 3.5GB of data allowance.

The TV shows and films can be simply streamed via the internet to a desktop computer or anything with a web browser and it is also compatible with the WII, PS3, Apple TV, XBOX 360 and a number of tablet / smart phone devices.

In recent years the average price for an online movie rental has been between £3 and £4 and even then the content is only available for 48 hours. With Netflix the content is always available which means that you only have to watch 2 movies and the service has paid for itself.

Major media providers such as BBC, 4oD, Disney UK, MGM, Paramount, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox to name but a few have all signed up to Netflix and are currently providing content.

The exciting new development is further proof that now, more than ever it is important to have a fast, reliable internet connection. Why not give us a call on 0113 2946699 to discuss your requirements and look at ways of making sure you have the best internet connection to meet your needs.

Get your free free consultation

Choosing the right kind of connectivity can be a difficult process as there are many things to consider, not only the financial commitment but also issues such as whether the type of connectivity you are considering suits the business’s requirements.

Often there is a technical aspect to the decision making process too which means that good solid advice is essential in order to help in making an informed decision as to what product to buy into, be it ADSL, Ethernet First Mile (EFM), bonding multiple lines or a fibre based leased line.

CCS (Leeds) does not employ sales people whose driving force is to sell as much as possible. We prefer to provide thorough and sound technical advice and as such our account managers/ technical sales are all highly qualified people with many years experience in the field.

We always give anyone who gets in touch with us at least 15 minutes of free consultation regardless of what the nature of the enquiry is. Our whole ethos is to provide the right product at the right price which will make our clients happy and hopefully mean that they will recommend us to others.

Call us now to speak to one of our experts who are here to advise and help you choose the right kind of connectivity to meet your requirements. Our technical advisers are not sales people and really do have the expertise and knowledge to match a business need to a product.

Give us a call on 0113 294 6699 for further details!

Website Updates

Updating websites is always a tricky business, especially when you have one with as much content as ours. Every new page has to fit the style and content of the rest of the site whilst also providing fresh new content.

The content has to be easy to understand whilst also presenting a certain degree of technical information for those seeking answers to questions which may result in them not having to pick up the phone.

In the last couple of months we have almost ten new pages on our website, each featuring a product that we supply. The content is detailed and will hopefully be easy to understand.

Managing and maintaining a website like ours is a bit like painting the Humber bridge in so much as once you have finished you have to start again, reviewing the original content and making sure is it fresh and up to date.
